SOUTH ANDROS  JUNKANOO 2013
During the Christmas I break  signed up for the South Andros High junior Junkanoo competition. My instrument was the Goat Skin bass drum, this a very large drum that lets out a very loud but dull sound or Bass. This year , the drummers costumes consist of a yellow shirt and a Chicharny head piece. The competition was a joke to me seeing how we sounded spectacular. With all of the lights, music, and happy faces, drummers must be in tip top shape. Why you ask. The bass drums are heavy. I want u to try carrying a almost 20 pound drum for an hour. Its not easy. Even with the weight of the drums, the physical demand of the practices, and coaches screaming in your ears, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. -Rasamin Mckinney

Playing the trombone for our third Annual Junior Junkanoo was amazing because it was an experience and a practice for me. The junkanoo parade was colorful, huge and loud, the music was great and the dancers, especially the banners, to me it same that everyone who was watching the parade was waiting on South Andros to come out, cause when we came out the crowd went live, so all I could say is that I had fun and also enjoyed my-self. -Gibbon McKenzie

CRABBING
My first experience with a crab was awful, because I though that catching it would have been easy, but some things that you see is not always harmless. The crab is smart, quiet, clever and fast. They walk on eight legs use two claws for protection and have a body hard like a shell. Crabs live in dry or wet areas, crabs also work with the weather and seasons.    -Gibbon McKenzie

DEBATE
My first time entering the Debate, I was really nervous, scared but mostly excited! The team is consisted of 3 persons, the first speaker, second speaker, third speaker an alternative and coaches. We are given a topic and we elaborate on it and how we should go about researching information on it. The fun part about it is that we get to travel, meet new people and to hear others point of views on topics, as well as prizes is given to the best speaker and the winner team. Not only is debating fun but it also enhances reading and learning skills.

SPORTS
South Andros High School has resident basketball and volleyball teams that compete with neighboring teams in Nassau and Mangrove Key. Additionally, the school has track-and-field facilities, and students can frequently be found playing baseball on one of the school's fields. Watch out for the blue and white, or the Barracudas might just take a bite!
